L´Escala is located on the south coast of the bay of Roses. Originally a fishing village well known for its anchovies. Whilst there has been development to cater for the tourist, the old town has retained its character and charm.

Fabulous and varied beaches. There is a land train which will take you along the coast from one beach to the other. All beaches of soft sand with lifeguards and first aid posts. Also super beach bars selling drinks, food and ice creams.

The area is ideal for windsurfing, sailing, snorkelling and diving (classes available) In L´Escala everything is at your fingertips….supermarkets, banks, restaurants etc. You can hire bicycles, take quad bike excursions into the surrounding forests, go-carting, crazy golf, snorkelling, windsurfing, sailing and diving.

Darnius is a small mountain village just a 15 minute drive from the town of Figueres. The village has everything you need - 2 x foodshops, butcher, chemist, bank, 4 x restaurants and many more country restaurants nearby. With the Pyranees as your backdrop you can enjoy all manner of outdoor activities. The surrounding area is excellent for walking, mountain biking, quad biking, horse riding, kayaking, fishing and swimming in the lake.

Catalunya is a very pretty part of Spain, being very green and enjoying a well balanced climate … most of the area around L´Escala is flat farm land used for growing olives, fruit, grapes, some crops and a little grazing for cows and sheep. There are also many pine forests. Go towards Darnius and the landscape changes with mountains, large areas of cork oak and a variety of other shrubs and trees.

Catalunya is also a very cultural area and we are blesed with many places of interest. Barcelona, Girona, Figueres (Dali museum), Cadaques, Empuries Roman/Greek ruins (in summer, fab outdoor concerts held), Banyoles (beautiful lake), Garrotxa volcanic region, Pals, Besalu, a Bisbal (famous for ceramics). Nature lovers - we have a super wetland - Aiguamolls with its assortment of wildlife. Use L´Escala or Darnius as your base and whether relaxing by the pool or on the beach, or exploring the area, you can´t go wrong!

Golf

There are 7 major golf courses in the area and 3 "Pitch and Putt" par 3 courses.

Ski-ing

A 1.5 hour drive finds you at the nearest ski station Valter 2000. Rental of equipment available at good prices (daily rate).

Prices

Prices range from 800 euros to 2000 euros per week and include all bed linen and bathroom towels. A 20% deposit is required to secure the reservation.

Arrival days

L´Escala: Saturday and Sunday Darnius: Wednesday

During the main season these arrival days apply but we can be flexible outside this period. We meet and greet all clients regardless of arrival times and offer a personal but not intrusive service (24 hours).
