Los Gigantes

On the south-western coast of the island, this one-time fishing village has blossomed into a town that combines its traditional Canarian charm with a distinctly cosmopolitan influence. Discovered by discerning visitors from many countries, Los Gigantes remains exclusively apart from the noise and bustle of Tenerife's crowded resorts.

Sheltered by the giant cliffs from which it takes its name, its tree-lined avenues and soft, dark volcanic sands are blessed with good sunshine. Set against the famous cliffs, The Royal Sun stands uniquely high above the town, with an uninterrupted view of the marina, the island of La Gomera and the sea beyond.

The Apartment

The Royal Sun is perched on hill with a western view (great sunsets!) overlooking Los Gigantes below. Our unit is an upgraded one bedroom, full kitchen, one bath apartment with a max capacity of 4 (living room has a sofabed). The huge balcony is great for relaxing, private sunbathing, dining, etc. The kitchen is fully equipped. Fresh towels, kitchen cloths and bed linen are changed regularly, and a weekly maid service keeps apartments clean and tidy.

POOL

The pool is located in the middle of the Royal Sun complex. Our apartment is located on the fifth level and the pool is located on the second level - less than a minute walk away. It's a fabulous pool for sunning/bathing/eating all day long!

BEACH

The walk to Los Gigantes and public beach area takes about 15 minutes but the Royal Sun provides transportation to/from Los Gigantes for those not willing to take the hike down to the village.

TRANSPORTION

A car is not required. All important tourist activities include transportation to the location. There are bus and taxi options at the airport for transportation to/from the Royal Sun. However, to freely explore the Island, I'd recommend a rental car for a portion of the stay.

There is very little sand at all on Tenerife: it is a volcanic island and is mostly volcanic ash or cinders along the coastal path with outcrops of rocks or pebbles going down to the sea (for instance Pebble Beach . . . ). Having said that many people sunbathe on the rocks and children often play on the pebbles though sandy it is not -- sand has to be imported from the Sarah desert to make beaches on Tenerife!! Los Gigantes is one of those places . . .
