When you take just a few steps in any direction away from quiet, relaxing Calle Roca, the quiet becomes a lively buzz of activity. The Ramblas in front are Barcelona's busy central promenade to the sea, while Calle Petritxol behind is one of the most quaint yet stylish streets in Barcelona, with its art galleries, cafés, print and paper shops, chocolaterías, and its many fascinating stone and ceramic plaques paying homage to artists and other eminent residents. Petritxol starts from the popular, emblematic Plaza del Pi, which gives it name to a tiny but select neighborhood. Residents of the calles Roca, Petritxol and Pi are fortunate to have their living space in this privelidged, greatly sought location
THE APARTMENT
Lovers of sun-filled spaces will enjoy this bright, sunny top floor apartment although it has no lift, so if you have difficulty with stairs, try Casa Betta on the first floor. The design of the apartment makes use of a subtle colour scheme suggesting harmony that induces relaxation. This complements the Mediterranean theme of the apartment, based on judicious use of light and space and conservation of original features typical of Barcelona´s Gothic Quarter. Original artwork and carefully chosen decorative elements complete the design.

The lounge connects to the dining room so that guests may enjoy the sensation of a diaphanous, open, sun-filled space as sunlight fills the entire living area. AREA
LOCATION
If your stay in Barcelona is short, you will find most places you want to visit within a five minute's walk. You can't do better than that! This includes the entire Gothic Quarter with its emblematic Cathedral, the historic Town Hall and the15th century seat of the Catalan government in Plaza Sant Jauma, the Opera House and the quaint, popular Born neighborhood. Museums in this area include the Picasso, Richard Maier's emblematic MACBA dedicated to contemporary art, The Musuem of the City of Barcelona, the Marès museum specializing in romanesque art and several others.Dozens of art galleries, antique shops and cafés can be found in this area, many just a street away on charming Calle Petritxol.
When exploring further afield, you have a Metro station on the central Line 1 right at the end of the street. Other transportation including local train service is in central Plaza Catalunya – just a three minute's walk. This is handy for day trips to the countryside or coastal villages for beachgoing, hiking, cycling and rural tourism, while for lazy days we suggest a 5-minute bus trip to Barcelona's beaches, or a 10-15 minute stroll to the same destination, well worth the effort. We also recommed the Tourist Bus departing from Plaza Catalunya for a journey around Barcelona, taking in emblematic landmarks such as Gaudi's famous Sagrada Familia church and other buildings as well as his breath-taking fantasy delight, the Parque Guell. But surely there will be times when you will want to forget itineraries of any sort: just wander through the labyrinth of streets around the apartment and be astonished by the stunning beauty of the city, by its charming corners, details and byways that you may at least imagine you were the first to notice.Café life Before returning home for a quiet rest, relax a moment in one of the sidewalk cafés in the plaza. While taking refreshment, also take in the scene around Santa Maria del Pi basilica. On weekends, a street market features the work of many up-and-coming artists, while other days artisans desplay regional food products and offer you a taste. Best not to refuse – they're delicious. Some of us incline towards shopping, but if you have too much already, try window shopping. Galerías Maldá on the Plaza is Barcelona's original traditional gallery of boutiques. If you don´t find just what you are looking for in its more than 100 shops, you will find many more in the immediate area. If you can´t find a souvenier of your trip here, you´re just not a shopper. Try one of the many small restaurants, a wine or tapas bar, or perhaps the colourful fresh fruit and vegetable market just at the end of the street.
